Perfect Boots – Don’t Settle for Just OK

    February 4th, 2010 by admin

I used to think that my hiking boots were “good enough” for my needs, and after breaking them in I didn’t give much more thought about them. In fact I guess you can say I got used to them and just accepted that any fatigue or pain was due to the terrain and other factors. I never thought to blame the boots. Another factor was price. I naively assumed that spending more meant the boots must be better, and I bought the max I could afford at the time. Dumb! Fortunately for my ankles, my old boots got semi-melted by a camp stove and I had to replace them. Not wanting to spend a fortune on an exact replacement I bought a pair of Vasque hiking boots for less than half of what I spent before. Wow, what a difference. Lesson learned: spending more isn’t always the solution. The perfect hiking boot is the one that fits right and matches your style.
