A Commentary On “Washington’s New Gun Rules Shift Constitutional Debate”
February 22nd, 2012 by admin
Does anyone see the silliness in all these restrictions to keep and bear Arms.
It has been clear for years that the 2nd Amendment provides for an individual right to keep and bear arms. All but 6 states have very similar statements in their Constitutions, so why are we having this discussion of a a priori restriction on a firearm or ammo.
I do not see citizens being required to beg a permit from their local sheriff to have or keep a computer/pen/paper/ink in order to practices their individual right to speech?
I have not heard of anyone seeking a prior permit to attend/not attend a church, synagogue,mosque/ashram/or coven? If an individuals has a right then she/he has one until he/she does something to forfeit it for a period of time.
I firmly believe that all individuals have the absolute unrestricted right to keep and bear arms (all weapons) for defense of their lives, property, and liberty. Defending those three assets is essential to life in any society. We, in American do not make people register with law enforcement to travel and vacation from A to B (actually we once did not do so — now thanks to the TSA/HSA your travel is almost monitored 24/7). Why do logical people only think of asking permission to exert a right when it comes to this basic need, the right to protect oneself?
